Day 1. San José
Welcome to San José, Costa Rica. This is where you’ll start your journey through one of the world’s most beautiful countries. Your local guide will meet you at the airport and prepare you for the exciting adventures and blissful relaxation you have ahead of you. They will transfer you directly to your hotel. Afterwards you can explore the capital city with its theaters, museums, and beautiful parks. Or simply sit in a café and enjoy a cup of world famous Costa Rican coffee to unwind. Day 2. San Jose to Arenal Volcano
Wake up to breakfast at your hotel. Today you will journey to the stunning Arenal Volcano located in the Northern Plains. You will be picked up right from your hotel by a knowledgeable local guide and transported to the town of La Fortuna which rests in the shadow of Arenal. After a quick stop to explore the town and have a meal, you will be taken to your hotel which is in the perfect location to appreciate the volcano. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 3. Arenal – Hanging Bridges and Ziplining Tour
Breakfast at your hotel. Today you will be journeying into the Arenal rainforest to enjoy the breathtaking views from both up close and high above. First is a hike up through the rainforest with a certified naturalist guide. You’ll make your way through every level of the forest culminating in a walk along the hanging sky bridges where you’ll be able to view the majestic forest from high up among the canopy. Don’t worry, your trip back down will be quicker – much quicker. From your vantage point at the height of the forest, you’ll zoom down on a zipline through the treetops back down to the ground below. This is known as one of the best ziplining courses in the world – and for good reason. Overnight in Arenal.
Day 4. Arenal Volcano to Monteverde
Breakfast at your hotel. Today you will depart Arenal and make for the Monteverde Cloud Forest. You’ll be picked up directly from your hotel and taken to a boat which will ferry you across the picturesque Lake Arenal. The rest of your journey will be across land directly to your hotel in the beautiful Monteverde. Overnight in Monteverde.
Day 5. Monteverde – Cloud Forest Biological Reserve
Wake up to breakfast at your hotel. Monteverde, or Green Mountain, earned its moniker from the lush cloud forests which cover its slopes. Today you will explore those forests in the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve with an experienced naturalist guide. There are numerous mapped trails where you will get to see the incredibly diverse flora and fauna up close. The area is home to sloths, quetzals, lizards, howler monkeys, and all different kinds of other animals. After your hike, refresh yourself with a cup of world famous Costa Rican coffee which grows the best at high elevations like Monteverde. Overnight in Monteverde.
Day 6. Monteverde to Guanacaste
Breakfast served at your hotel. Today you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Guanacaste savannah which is an area of extensive plains dedicated to agriculture and livestock. Your destination also boasts beautiful beaches where near-permanent sunny weather make it a prime spot for relaxation and water activities. You’ll also be in a great location to experience the culture, music, cuisine, and hallmark friendly hospitality of the Costa Rican people. Overnight in Guanacaste.
Day 7. Guanacaste – Buena Vista Adventure Combo
Breakfast at the hotel. The best way to experience all the area has to offer is the Adventure Combo at the Buena Vista Lodge. You will start off with a 12-platform canopy tour of the area’s forest. Next, you are in for a distinctly unique experience – a nearly 1,000 foot waterslide back down through the forest. After you reach solid ground, it’s probably about time for a change of pace. Take a leisurely horseback ride back to the Buena Vista’s rustic spa where you can enjoy all their amenities including hot springs and mud baths. Overnight in Guanacaste.
Day 8. Guanacaste – Snorkeling Adventure
Breakfast at the hotel. You’ve seen the plants and animals in Costa Rica’s forests already, but today is your opportunity to meet the marine life. Take a snorkeling tour off the country’s coast where you can see schools of fish, manta rays, and even sharks in their natural habitat. Make sure to bring a waterproof camera! Overnight in Guanacaste.
Day 9. Guanacaste
Breakfast at the hotel. Today is a free day to relax. Enjoy the sun, the beach, and the food. You can also opt to take a tour of the city or surf lessons. Please inquire with your local guide. Overnight in Guanacaste.
Day 10. Guanacaste to San José
Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will say adiós to Guanacaste and head back to San José. During the drive from Guanacaste to San José you’ll pass through picturesque towns and rural farmland. Upon your arrival, you’ll have time to rest before enjoying dinner at one of the many gourmet restaurants found in the city. Overnight in San José.
Day 11. San Jose
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart to the airport. You must be at the airport three hours before your flight departure time.
