Hov is my favorite rapper of all time. Sorry Biggie and Pac riders. I’ll die standing on this hill while throwing up the Roc diamond. So it’s safe to say I know a little bit about Jigga. This particular story pertains to his love of the Amalfi Coast. Why? Because it’s the vacation destination that he and Beyoncé enjoy each year. It is, without a doubt, one of the most gorgeous locations on the planet. With colorful cliffside architecture that will amaze, sunsets and scenery that will dazzle, grub that will put you into a food coma, and weather that is literal perfection every single day, you’d be hard pressed to find a reason to vacation anywhere else in the world.

Recently married, my wife and I had some decisions to make. The good news was that our honeymoon debate ended pretty swiftly. We decided on Italy, and more specifically, the Amalfi Coast. Unfortunately, we knew little to nothing about planning a vacation of this magnitude, and that’s where TomFlies.com came in to save the day. We had no desire to settle for a nice vacation, we wanted an elite honeymoon trip. We reached out to TF, told them what our budget was, explained that we wanted to stay on the Amalfi Coast, and they took care of the rest.

The Amalfi Coast is made up of four towns – Praiano, Amalfi, Ravello, and the famed Positano. We let TF pick which town to stay in, and were very happy with their decision. We were put up in an exquisite four-star hotel called Tramonto D’Oro in Praiano (the smallest town on the coast), and were plenty pleased with the accommodations and service.

Great Expectations: The Amalfi Coast

The Black Sands of Positano:

Black Sands Beach is still one of the best experiences you will ever have. The black beach is actually comprised of small, dark, volcanic pebbles stemming from Mount Vesuvius, which overlooks the coast. You can eat and drink on the beach pretty freely, so pick yourself up a panino (Italy’s sandwiches) from the closest deli and enjoy an excellent day in the sun. The most popular order is parma ham (Prosciutto), mozzarella, and tomato, which is amazing. Pack the cooler with some Gatorade, mineral water, and a few brews, then go live your best life.

Capri:

The stunning island of Capri is located an hour or so away from the Amalfi Coast. You have to take a boat to get there, just like the Roman Emperors did back when they used this island as their mystical getaway. Legend has it that the ancients used this Themyscira looking island and their infamous grottos as their swinger nymph pads to escape from the landlocked heat. The Blue Grotto is the most iconic spot on the island, and for good reason. In the 1800s, a German author – who now lives in infamy – convinced some local fisherman to take him to the feared cave. When he swam through a small opening, he found himself floating in an “unfathomable blue sky” that looked to him “like the light of a blue flame.” It was eventually revealed that the source of the light was an underwater cavity that allows sunlight to filter in. This light reflecting into the grotto is one of the most breathtaking visuals anyone can see on Earth today. With objects that appear silver in the crystal clear blue water, it’s no wonder the Romans regarded Capri as the domain of the sirens, the Homeric creatures who lured sailors to their demise with seductive songs. Today, you can pay a few bucks for a tour and stop at the famous grottos that are littered throughout the island.

Praiano’s One Fire Beach Club:

This is the most exciting beach club on the planet as far as I’m concerned. With the Mediterranean as their backdrop, this spot sits in a great lagoon kind of location. Not only do they play good music starting at 10 a.m., but they make delicious food and have the most insane 4:30 p.m. tradition I’ve ever seen. 16:30 is Melon Time. At Melon Time, they play nothing but hype music and everybody in the whole spot squads up to infuse each other with excitement. They quickly break out watermelons on watermelons as the music ramps up and begin to cut the juicy fruit up viciously. It’s like a samurai on a fruit killing rampage running through a watermelon patch, but instead of bloodshed, they hand out all the refreshing melon and you party the rest of the day away.

Pompeii: Mount Vesuvius is the volcano that sits a few hundred miles away from the Amalfi Coast. That volcano is the reason you know the name Pompeii. In 79AD, Vesuvius exploded and caused one of the biggest catastrophes in human history, and those unfortunate people living below were victims of the volcano’s rage. Now the petrified statues are a constant reminder of this planet’s volatile unpredictability. This was the one location I didn’t get to during my vacation, but I will walk the harrowing streets of Pompeii one day.

Music on the Rocks:

Carved out of the cliffs near Black Sand Beach, Music on the Rocks is one of the craziest clubs I’ve ever been to, and Positano’s amazing international attraction. I was lucky to walk in with a group of young ladies, so I was more fortunate than most men trying to get in. Drinks were great, and the music was good. You shouldn’t have a problem going out here and having a fun night with friends and/or fam. Cocktails were a little pricey, but hey, you’re at one of the coolest clubs, so give and take, right? This may sound a little crazy, but the highlight of the night was my man Michael Bublé hopping into the DJ both (perhaps after a few drinks) and singing about Spiderman. This is why you go out to places like Music on the Rocks.

The Verdict

The Amalfi Coast is everything you have seen, hoped, and imagined it would be. The sights are jaw-dropping. The water is captivating. The food is so good you’ll come back home acting like a boujee culinary expert! Jordan, Jay-Z, Beyoncé, Diddy, George Clooney, Mark Zuckerberg, and hundreds of celebrities treat the Amalfi Coast as their personal sunny playground, and for good reason. The weather was perfect every single day. The water temperature is exactly what you want after a long morning (yes, morning) of drinking and sunbathing the day away. The nightlife is always sizzling no matter where you are,  but it’s especially happening in Positano. This is the vacation you want to go on, as long as your bank account can afford it. Italy, you are absolutely outstanding and beautifully rustic.

With thorough destination insight, solid local contacts, and negotiated airfare to Europe, TomFlies.com is making a name for themselves in authentic Amalfi Coast itineraries. Start planning your trip here!
