So when is the best time to travel? If you are planning to get to your out-of-town festivities a bit early, leaving on Saturday, Nov. 18 or Tuesday, Nov. 21 may be your best bet. To skip the return traffic, make your way home on Saturday, Nov. 25, or Monday, Nov. 27.

Just because these dates may be a little lighter in airport congestion than the busiest of the season, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t expect to wait on longer than average security lines. Give yourself a little extra time to make sure you don’t miss your flight. Consider departing from alternate airports in your area for reduced wait times.
